Getting Started with Metis PCIe 4-AIPU

This guide is for customers who have a Metis 4-chip PCIe card. It links everything you need to get up and running with the Metis PCIe 4-AIPU.

System compatibility

The card is single-slot, full-height, and a little under three-quarter length. It uses a PCIe Gen3 x16 connector and an 8-pin PCIe cable for auxiliary power. See the datasheet for full details.

Installation

  1. Install the card. Align it with a PCIe Gen 3.0 x16 slot and gently insert it, then secure it with the bracket screws.
  2. Verify cooling. Ensure the fan is securely attached and unobstructed, and that the chassis has adequate airflow.
  3. Connect power. Connect the PCIe auxiliary power cable from your system to the 2 x 4 connector.
  4. Set up software. Install the Voyager SDK for model configuration and optimisation.

For full hardware installation steps, including installing multiple cards in a server, see the Metis PCIe 4-AIPU installation guide.

To install the Voyager SDK, clone the Voyager SDK GitHub repository and run the install script, following the install guide. Then try the first inference walkthrough, and see the SDK documentation for an overview.
